BAY LEAF

A perennial, aromatic tree that grows between 10 and 12 m high. Its dark green leaves are shiny on the top and opaque on the bottom. Its flowers are small and have a greenish-white colour.

The bay leaf originates from Mediterranean countries. The Romans used it for making crowns in honour of poets, warriors and athletes.

In the kitchen, this aromatic herb is used throughout the world for giving flavour to stews, pickles, broths, soups and so one and it is one of the main ingredients used in a bundle of herbs for making stock.
